On February 29, 2016, Professional Training Centers, Inc., d/b/a Mattia College (“Mattia College”), filed a voluntary petition for relief under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code (the “Bankruptcy Code”) in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida. On March 3, 2016, the Bankruptcy Court entered an order converting Mattia College’s case to a liquidation under Chapter 7. The Office of the United States Trustee appointed me as trustee. I have retained the law firm Berger Singerman LLP as counsel.
We are tasked with administering the assets of Mattia College for the benefit of its creditors. This web site contains general information regarding the bankruptcy case, access to a proof of claim form that you may use if you are owed money by or have a claim against Mattia College and answers to some frequently asked questions. We have assumed stewardship of the assets of the college, including the financial books and records which were located on site when the Bankruptcy Court converted the case to a liquidation.
For students, we have been in contact with the Commission for Independent Education and the Florida Department of Education (“CIE”). Subject to approval of the Bankruptcy Court, we intend to transition all student records to CIE.
